Gruss,

Hello

Perhaps someone could advise me. I'm having some problems with original efi system. Works well but it's almost impossible to start when cold. I have extra set of Mikuni 34mm flatslides which I have never tested on my bike. The engine is from -84 GPZ and bored to 1200cc. Runs fine with original efi but I don't want to play with it anymore. What do you suggest? and how about performance any difference between efi or carbs..

Thanks for helping..

Hey guys,

I recently bought a 1983 ELR that has some damage due to the original owner crashing the bike.

I am having some difficulty locating some parts and would like to see if any of you guys can help me out.

This is a US version ELR and when the bike was wrecked the engine head and Cylinder block was damaged and broke off some of the fins. The bike still runs but I would like to replace them for cosmetic purposes.

Can anyone help me out with a proper replacement. Part numbers do not help me out much, and I am hoping that someone has dealt with this situation before. I am also hoping to find a possible replacement that is the same but painted silver and that is why I can't find a link through any part numbers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Can anyone tell me what is the difference with KZ1000R emblem on the side covers. My ELR has the emblem with the American flag - I believe this is because it is a European model? I have also aquired the stock ELR 1000 emblems with the "R" in Red, one in black, and have seen one where the "R" is blue.

Just curious.

Hey Folks,

Maybe I'm not asking pure Greenie questions, but, What are the advantages of building with a J-motor as opposed to the Z1 e motor .I remenber some talk back when I had The Z1s that the new generation Mk11 & to some extent the J model were not as" fool proof".If i am offending anyone please excuse my waver,it's just that I have no freinds at this time that are moto inclined and none that could even name more than one or two bikes.
I'm building a z of some sort this spring and want to try a j- motored bike this time, any tips or heads ups would be great
I've found a '82 model Z1000R at a resonable price here in Italy. Any part seems to be original except for a 4 into 1 marving exhaust. It have 60.000 km on the odometer and this scares me a bit. Could it be a problem? Z1000R engines have any particular hidden problems? a price around 1500€ could be considered as a good price?

Thanks in advance for your answers and excuse me for my english

I'm going to purchase a kawasaki next spring and make a road bike for pleasure/ fast riding. When I was a young man I had a Z1 that had it's frame braced prior to my buying/riding it.It was my second big kawi and little did i know, it ended up handling better than the next 5 or six that i've owend. The scarriest by far being a Z1r,It scared the people that I rode with,It was kind of funny and quite the badge of bravery, I could count on no riders sneaking behind on tight corners after they had seen the awsome tank slappers this bike could do with allmost no warning. There was a couple of times after rides where the bike was the topic. Now the question. I want to try building on the J model motor cycle this time. I care nothing about matching vins or what the true kawi purests will think. I just want to work towards a fun clean looking well working kawi. Can the 1982 ltd 1000 frame accept a front end/ or forks from another model /s to correct leadind axle ? Do the 1982 ltd and 1000j frame differ? How???? Can i build a road racer from the 82 ltd or should I wait and save$ for the 1000j?gpz1100?- They are rare in the u.s, and are more for keeping "pretty".The 82 ltds seem more plentiful on e-bay.I am going to do a bunch of changes any way so can I start with the ltd frame?I had a 1978 ltd 1000 zmodel that i could corner on really well.header shocks tires rearsets etc... so why not a bad ass 1982/ framed-motored bike?
